Pat Maroon just revealed Connor Bedard's fate with the Chicago Blackhawks on LIVE TV

Patrick Maroon has quite the insight into the Blackhawks' future as they're poised to make strides in 2025-2026, as he dropped a hint on who could be the next Captain for the team during the interview on NHL's Morning Skate.
The Chicago Blackhawks are a team that's in flux. The future isn't written in stone, and new prospects trickle in all the time. During Pat Maroon's interview, he feels like the team is set up to be great in the future.
He mentioned recent call-ups of Sam Rinzel and Oliver Moore as players who could be key pieces in the team's future.
But what was most interesting of all during the interview was when he mentioned leadership.
Who will step into a leadership role, i.e, the captaincy, in the future, when someone like Nick Foligno is gone?
It'll have to be someone, and Pat Maroon revealed a hint that it will soon be Connor Bedard.
A huge report by Maroon, which all but confirms Bedard's longevity in Chicago.
Bedard, according to the now retired veteran, will have to taken what he's learned from other NHL veterans in the league and pass that knowledge down to other players in the future.
He'll have to take the reins of leadership and help instill purpose and direction in a team who, this season, at times, appeared rudderless.
Next season will be Connor Bedard's third year in the league, and he should have an idea of what to expect, unlike his rookie counterparts in the league, who will have to find a way to adjust.
Bedard can be what Foligno was to him when he first joined the NHL during his Calder Trophy-winning season in 2023-2024.
Bedard scored a total of 67 points in 82 games this season, only a year after winning the rookie MVP in the NHL.
