Official signing alert of a Stanley Cup Champion and a familiar face to Chicago Blackhawks fans

Former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Jack Johnson has found himself in an odd space.

He was recently signed to a PTO by the Minnesota Wild, a rival club.

Last season, we saw Johnson return to play in Columbus with the Blue Jackets, a team he last played for in 2017-18 before heading to Pittsburgh to play in a more "competitive" style of hockey.

For all his attempts to win a Stanley Cup, it'd only come his way once (2021-22), which is ironic after he talked trash about the Jackets.

Now, after playing for the Blackhawks so soon, the veteran defenseman will head to Minnesota and try to earn a spot in the lineup, thanks to GM Bill Guerin.

Last season, he skated in 41 games and scored 6 points (6A) for the Blue Jackets. He wasn't the kind of impact player he'd been in the past with the Blue Jackets, and won a cup as a depth piece on the Colorado Avalanche.

Johnson played for the Blackhawks in 2022-23, skating in 58 games and scoring 4 points (4A).

He has achieved success at the international level, playing in the 2010 Olympic Games, where he helped Team USA collect a silver medal.

Johnson has played a total of 1,228 games at the NHL level and scored 342 points (77-265) and won one Stanley Cup with the Avalanche.

Now, he'll have to justify why the Minnesota Wild should keep him around longer than training camp lasts.
