Canadiens acquire Stanley Cup Champion from the Chicago Blackhawks in completed trade today in hockey history

The Chicago Blackhawks organization completed a trade with the Montreal Canadiens today in hockey history.
As we await what is set to be a historic season in Chicago, let's look back at a trade that went down on this day, 87 years ago, between the Hawks and another Original Six team.
Chicago Blackhawks Trade Stanley Cup Champion To Montreal Canadiens On This Day, 87 Years Ago
On August 26, 1938, the Blackhawks acquired Joffre Desilets from the Canadiens in exchange for Louis Trudel.
Desilets didn't have a long NHL career, taking part in only 192 games over his five-year career. He had the best season of his short career right after the trade, scoring 24 points in 48 games during the 1938-39 season.
Trudel, meanwhile, had a bigger reputation in the NHL. He won two Stanley Cups, in 1934 and 1938, the first two Cups won by the Chicago Blackhawks.
Over his career, he recorded 49 goals and 118 points, with 122 PIMs. He eventually retired after nearly 15 more years played in the AHL.
Blackhawks And Canadiens Recent Trade History Could Lead To Massive Results
Of course, the Habs and the Hawks made a lot of trades together, as two of the oldest teams in the League.
But more recently, they made a trade that would lead to big implications for the future: they traded Kirby Dach for a draft pick, which was used to draft Frank Nazar 13th overall in 2022.
Nazar signed a seven-year deal last week and is expected to play a big role as the Hawks look to reach the next step of their rebuild.
Considering how this deal turned out for both teams, it may be in the Hawks' favor to look to pursue trade options with the Canadiens.
