Troubling news involving Kirill Kaprizov's future in Minnesota could turn out to be a golden opportunity for the Chicago Blackhawks organization.

The Minnesota Wild's top priority this offseason has been to re-sign their star winger, who is entering the final year of a five-year, $45 million deal.
While GM Bill Guerin has expressed public confidence, insiders suggest the situation is far from settled.

Concerning Update on Kirill Kaprizov's Future In Minnesota Could Lead Him To Chicago

Kaprizov, 28, is one of the NHL's elite scorers.
Despite missing 41 games last season, he scored 56 points in 53 games. Since joining Minnesota in 2020, he has tallied 185 goals and 201 assists in 319 games.
In a new report, Michael Russo shared details on the situation between the Wild and Kaprizov:
"Bill Guerin has been extremely publicly confident that they are going to get it done. But from what I checked on the last couple days, they are not close."

"I think he's definitely going to surpass (Leon) Draisaitl. This is one franchise that has never had a superstar like (Kirill) Kaprizov... He will become the highest paid winger in the National Hockey League."

But the negotiations have been complicated by Kaprizov's location in Moscow and concerns that some details may not be fully translating through his agent:
"Some of it is that he is in Moscow and there's concern inside the organization that he is understanding everything that's been told to him through his agent."

For the Blackhawks, the timing could not be better.
Chicago currently has $22 million in cap space and has been linked to Kaprizov and Artemi Panarin for the 2026 offseason.
Should Minnesota hesitate or fail to finalize a deal quickly, the Hawks could make a splash and pursue him.
