Insider names 4 teams in the running to acquire Connor McDavid if he doesn't re-sign in Edmonton

Connor McDavid still has another year on his contract, but his future has already been among the hot topics around the NHL for months now.

The best player in the world reportedly hasn't decided what he wants to do after his current contract, with the next season in Edmonton being crucial in his decision.

Another disappointing loss could push McDavid to seek new opportunities elsewhere.

In a new report, the insider Frank Seravalli named four teams who could be great destinations for McDavid.

All NHL teams would love to be able to get a player like McDavid, but the reality is, not everyone will have the financial resources to make it happen.

Seravalli believes that if McDavid were to hit free agency, four teams could have what it takes: the Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, or Chicago Blackhawks.

It would honestly be surprising to see McDavid sign in Chicago, especially with Connor Bedard, Frank Nazar, and Anton Frondell set to play a massive role for the Hawks' center line for many years.

Also, I believe, like many people pointed out in the comments, that the Montreal Canadiens should be on that list. They are among the most promising organizations in the League, after reaching the playoffs last season only three years after starting a rebuild.

But the most likely ending is that he will remain in Edmonton, especially if the team wins a Stanley Cup this year.
