With the Edmonton Oilers offloading major pieces, the team needs to add more talent ahead of next season, as General Manager Stan Bowman is linked to a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks involving 23-year-old center Lukas Reichel.

For the Chicago Blackhawks, they need to find a way to keep the rebuild moving.
That requires moving assets who are past their time in Chicago.
That would involve moving forward with Lukas Reichel.
Reichel has had trouble getting started in Chicago, and as a 17th overall pick in 2020, it may be time to move on from him and get what assets they can for him.
Let's not forget punishment Reichel received from the Blackhawks last season after skipping a team morning, and choosing sleep instead.
Here's Heavy.com's trade proposal for Lukas Reichel:

Lukas Reichel and The German Connection in Edmonton with the Oilers Makes Sense

Fortunately for Kyle Davidson, there's a link to the Edmonton Oilers through Stan Bowman.
Especially when NHL Insider Jim Matheson has reported on the Oilers General Manager's interest in his former draft pick.
"I keep thinking Oilers GM Stan Bowman is calling Hawks to get winger Lukas Reichel. Bowman drafted him in first round in 2020 and he would be akin to trading for Podkolzin last summer when he was treading water. Plus Reichel is German and might work on team with Draisaitl."

There are multiple reasons here for Bowman to call in on Reichel's availability. One is a fresh start, two, the German connection that could be forged with Leon Draisaitl, and lastly, he was a Bowman draft pick when he managed the Blackhawks.
Could this be the perfect scenario for Reichel to revive his career in the NHL?
The Blackhawks could restock their draft capital and bring back center Mattias Janmark, who could fill the gap Lukas Reichel leaves.
While the Oilers get a fresh forward in the lineup, who could turn out to be what Bowman drafted, if he develops correctly.
