Connor Bedard has now been revealed to have extensive leverage in contract negotiations with the Chicago Blackhawks; he could cost the organization millions.

Chicago Blackhawks' Connor Bedard undoubtedly made the right move by pushing aside contract extension talks with the organization this past offseason.

Bedard has revealed several times that an extension wasn't something he really thought about, despite knowing he wanted to stay with the Hawks.

"I've said a bunch [of times] it hasn't been ruthless or anything. It's just a couple chats. It's all pretty chill. We have a good relationship. It's not something that keeps you up at night or that I really ever think about."

Even the general manager, Kyle Davidson, spoke on the matter, revealing they hadn't really actively worked on a deal.

"It's nothing we're actively working on right now but Connor's mentioned it and I'll say it: I have zero concern about where that's headed. He wants to be here for a long time, we want him here for a long time, we're going to make that happen."

However, this might have been the wrong move for Davidson, as the organization is now anticipated to pay millions for this highly skilled forward due to his league-leading point production as of late.

Chicago Blackhawks expected to pay big money to keep Connor Bedard on their roster

Bedard is now entering the last season of his three-year, $950,000 deal, and he is expected to strike a costly deal.

This is due to the fact that recent contract extensions have seen talents complete shockingly high deals with their organizations, such as Logan Cooley, who cemented an AAV (average annual value) of $10 million with the Utah Mammoth last month.
