The Chicago Blackhawks acquired a forward in a trade completed 74 years ago today with the Boston Bruins.

This offseason, the Chicago Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson didn't make many moves on the trade market. Following another season ending at the bottom of the rankings and another high draft pick, the Hawks are expected to take a massive step next season.
With still a few weeks left to go until the start of training camp, we thought it'd be interesting to look back at some of the moves that defined the franchise.

Hawks Send Forward From The Bruins in a Trade On This Day

On August 20, 1951, the Hawks sent Adam "The Flying Scotsman" Brown to the Boston Bruins for cash:
Born on February 4, 1920, Brown started his professional hockey career in the 1941-42 season with the Detroit Red Wings. He ended up winning the Stanley Cup in 1942-43 and was sent to the Chicago Blackhawks during the 1946-47 season.
Interestingly, Brown was in the starting lineup during Gordie Howe's rookie game. He even tallied an assist on Howe's first goal, with Sid Abel.
He remained in Chicago for five seasons before the trade that sent him to Boston, where he took part in the final season of his NHL career, in 1951-52.
Brown tragically passed away in 1960 due to a car accident.
In 391 total career games in the NHL, Brown scored 104 goals and 113 assists while tallying 378 PIMs. He also scored six points in 26 playoff games.
Make sure to stay tuned for further stories about the legends that made the Chicago Blackhawks franchise as we get closer to the start of their 100th season in the NHL.
