A recent proposal sees the Chicago Blackhawks acquire a cheap veteran to round out the depth in their roster, and it's surprising.

Due to the unfortunate standpoint of the Chicago Blackhawks, it seems as though this organization is not overly motivated to compete this upcoming campaign.
Speculations have already begun believing this Original Six franchise could be poised to be in the running for the top-overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
With that being said, and the Chicago Blackhawks having an abundance of cap space, fans and reporters have began to believe that this organization has nothing to lose.
So why not at least try to acquire cheap experienced players who could help round out the depth of their roster?

A recent report by Heavy.com reveals a cheap veteran with immense experience might be the Chicago Blackhawks' best option at this point

A recent article was published on Heavy.com by Nestor Quixtan, revealing the Chicago Blackhawks should consider a former top blue liner on a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO) for their upcoming campaign.
Quixtan revealed one name that comes to mind, and that is Marc-Edouard Vlasic.
Vlasic was bought out by the San Jose Sharks earlier this offseason, and since, the 39-year-old has yet to announce his retirement.
Meanwhile, Quixtan believes he could be enticed to join the Blackhawks on a small deal.

Chicago Blackhawks recommended to acquire 39-year old veteran, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, this offseason

Although acquiring Vlasic is a long shot, due to Chicago's minimal roster space, the Blackhawks' young roster could undoubtedly benefit from the addition of a veteran presence with over 1,000 games of NHL experience.
The addition of veteran presence might just be worthwhile for Chicago to consider, especially due to the fact that the organization's oldest defenseman as of now is Connor Murphy at 32. Then, the rest of the blue line does not exceed 24-years of age.
With all being said, the expectation could be for Vlasic to take on more of a mentorship role, and although this is merely speculation, it seems as though Vlasic isn't ready for his professional career to come to an end.
Do you think Marc-Edouard Vlasic could bolster the Chicago Blackhawks' standings by offering his knowledge and experience?
