Renovations at the BMO Center are changing how Rockford IceHogs fans experience hockey with new LED dasher boards and a long string of upgrades over the last five years.

The AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks has seen its home arena reinvented piece by piece to modernize guest comfort and technology.
The latest big tech addition is the 360-degree Athletica LED digital dasher board system that will be fully unveiled on Saturday, Dec. 27 against the Texas Stars, bringing dynamic visuals right to ice level.
BMO Center leadership says this will enhance entertainment from puck drop through endgame.
While lights and pixels get attention, this build-out is part of more than $30 million in cumulative enhancements at the downtown Rockford arena over five years, driven by support from the City of Rockford, the Blackhawks, Winnebago County, the State of Illinois, and RAVE.
Going back a few seasons, fans saw overhauls to the main entry, an expanded lobby, upgraded club spaces, a new box office, and even refreshed bar and lounge areas that elevated the overall experience for game nights and concerts alike.

IceHogs LED upgrades elevate BMO Center experience

There's a growing buzz among fans that this isn't just cosmetic; it's the kind of upgrade that helps the IceHogs keep pace with modern minor league arenas. You can feel it walking through the doors now compared to five years ago.
Other improvements around the rink included more comfortable seating with padding and cupholders, giving long games a more enjoyable feel.
Behind the scenes, the teams invested in workspaces for players and staff and even locker room renovations that gave the AHL squad better prep facilities on par with what you'd expect from a top NHL affiliate.
The LED dasher board addition is both a visual spectacle and a revenue tool with unique branding opportunities for partners.
It also sets the stage for high-profile events, including the upcoming 2026 AHL All-Star Classic, where BMO Center tech will show off its full capabilities.
