Fans are noticing something a bit different in Chicago Blackhawks young forward Connor Bedard's latest social media video.
Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard recently wrapped up his 2nd year in the NHL after being taken 1st overall by the club in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft after they controversially won the Draft Lottery.
Bedard hasn't been shy in expressing his disappointment with the losing culture of the Blackhawks, leading many to wonder if his days with the club are numbered and if he could eventually request a trade out of town.
In the meantime, he took time to record a special video for new Regina Pats forward Maddox Shultz, whom they selected 1st overall in the WHL Prospects Draft.
As a former Regina Pats forward himself, Bedard took the initiative to welcome Schultz, who will be eligible for the 2028 NHL Entry Draft, to the team.
Hey Maddox, Connor Bedard here. 1st off, just wanted to congratulate you on an unbelievable season. Finishing off with the Telsus Cup there, it was so fun to watch and follow you this year, so was pumped for you there. I know everyone there is super pumped. You're going to be a special player and you'll love your time there, it's a tremendous organization to be a part of and the fans will embrace you. It will be a blast, and I can't wait to watch you play and grow - you're gonna be a stud.

Blackhawks fans who watched the video also couldn't help but notice that Bedard, who is normally clean shaven, had some facial hair growing - at least, a little bit.
It may be a long time before Bedard can grow a playoff beard for Stanley Cup Playoff hockey with the Blackhawks considering their long and slow rebuilding process.
