Laurent Brossoit scored a goalie goal for the Rockford IceHogs while on a Blackhawks conditioning stint after a two-year injury comeback, giving fans a moment they didn't know they'd see.

It was his third game back since being activated from injured non-roster status and sent to the AHL to find his game shape after knee and hip surgeries kept him out since April 2024.
"Amidst Bedard concerns, what an unbelievable moment for Laurent Brossoit in Rockford tonight. He battled so hard for 1.5 years to play again, and now he scored a goalie goal in his third game back:"

- Ben Pope, CST
The 32-year-old netminder stopped 33 of 36 shots and added the rare tally in Rockford's 5-3 win over Milwaukee Friday night, a remarkable sight for a goalie who has battled more setbacks than appearances over the past 20 months.
Brossoit's journey back has been painstaking. After signing a two-year, $6.6 million deal with Chicago in July 2024 he never got on ice for the Blackhawks due to first a torn meniscus then hip surgery.

Laurent Brossoit sparks Rockford

What Blackhawks fans are buzzing about now isn't just the goal, it's that Brossoit looks healthy and competitive again in live action.
Playing nearly 600 days since his last game with Winnipeg, Brossoit's conditioning stint can last up to 14 days. If he continues to show he's fully back on the ice, it could open the door for NHL interest around the league.
Chicago's current goalie duo of Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom has solidified the NHL net, making Brossoit somewhat redundant on the roster but intriguing as a depth and experience piece for teams needing veteran coverage.
Rumors already swirl that the Blackhawks are ready to move him after his conditioning run, with permission reportedly granted for other clubs to make contact ahead of a possible trade.
For Brossoit, the goalie goal is more than a statistical oddity, it's proof he's still got it, and a tangible boost to his trade stock heading into the NHL's midseason shuffle.
