Blackhawks assign struggling forward to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs

After the Chicago Blackhawks announced that Oliver Moore was called up from the AHL, they also announced that Landon Slaggert has been demoted to the AHL.

Because of the injury to Jason Dickinson, the Chicago Blackhawks were forced to call up forward Oliver Moore from the American Hockey League affiliate Rockford IceHogs.

Per a report from Blackhawks analyst Charlie Roumeliotis, the Blackhawks have assigned Landon Slaggert to the AHL.

"Blackhawks assign Landon Slaggert to AHL's Rockford IceHogs after calling up Oliver Moore earlier in the day."

Slaggert has played in five games so far this year with the Blackhawks but has no points.

It'll be up to him to improve his game with the IceHogs if he wants to earn another call-up to the Blackhawks at some point this year.

The Blackhawks Have Sent Landon Slaggert Back To The Rockford IceHogs

Slaggert was taken with the 79th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Blackhawks not long after he finished playing with the U.S. National Under-18 Team and would later spend three years playing for the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the NCAA.

He already has 54 games of NHL experience under his belt wearing a Blackhawks sweater and has 10 points (3G, 7A).

His scouting report via Elite Prospects describes him as a bulldozer on the ice:

"He throws heavy hits, outmuscles opponents along the boards and seemingly always wants to play the body to win the puck. He could outwork opponents in the slot as well. Showed some good speed and decent acceleration. Strong physically, dominates in board battles and in corners."

He had 25 points last year (10G, 15A) in 39 games with the IceHogs last year.
