Bad Luck for Vegas Golden Knights: Carter Hart Injured After Return vs Chicago Blackhawks

The rough patch for the Golden Knights continues after what should have been a feel-good night. Carter Hart, making his long-awaited return to the NHL, is now day-to-day with a lower-body injury after facing the Chicago Blackhawks in his return to the league.

Hart was brilliant in his return, stopping 27 shots and standing tall through overtime and the shootout to secure a 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

But the celebration could prove short-lived. The Golden Knights announced on Dec. 5 that Carter Hart would be sidelined with a lower-body issue.

It remains unclear whether the injury came during the game or afterward.

The win earned some relief for Vegas, still dealing with the long-term absence of starter Adin Hill.

With Hart out, backup Akira Schmid is set to resume starting duties, backed up by a recalled AHL goalie.

Bedard stare-down may have cost more than a goal

In the game Connor Bedard-whose slick shootout move beat Hart-also scored a jaw-dropping goal in the shootout.

Imagine if that same flash of skill ended up taking down Hart. It's speculation, yes, but given how soon after Hart's return this injury popped up, a few raised eyebrows seem natural. The timing stings for a netminder trying to resurrect his career.
